Consideration of the Variable Contact Geometry in Vibratory Roller Compaction

Vibratory rollers are mainly used for the near-surface compaction of granular media a wide variety construction tasks. In addition to pronounced depth effect, vibratory have offered possibility work-integrated control (intelligent compaction) decades. State-of-the-art measurement values intelligent (ICMVs) only take into account, if at all, constant geometry contact area between drum and soil. Therefore, this paper introduces comparatively simple mechanical model, which describes dynamic interaction vibrating underlying soil during investigate influence changing on motion behavior drum. The model is tested realistic machine parameters, results simulation with varying compared conventional fixed geometry. analysis shows that consideration can map sufficiently provide in good accordance field measurements.
